The years come and go, as they have for centuries. The cycle continues, people born or passing into this world, and dying to be reborn into the human world. Time moves more slowly here than in the living world perhaps, with rare, overwhelming periods of change interspersed with long periods of sameness.
He and Ukitake had been friends since they were students, so many years ago now. And they'd both had any number of romantic entanglements (well, Shunsui more than Jyuushirou, but there you had it). But on occasion, each found that there were some things best kept between friends, who understood the needs of the mind as well as of the body. And sometimes, fantasy was what was needed in this strange and sometimes terrible world.
He's in a casual but sumptuous outfit, the kind warlords wore at times when they were younger and there were more of them. Not that there weren't still more than a few in the outlying districts (and he often thought the family heads were little more than warlords with lineage), but for the moment, he could set that aside. To his phantom retainers, he barks out: "Send in the captive."

He did manage to keep his expression as neutral as he could as he stood before the other man.

"Kneel here." He indicates the floor in front of him; he's sitting on a slightly raised mat, so that he'll be looking down at Ukitake with the other man kneeling in seiza, if Ukitake chooses to cooperate. His character may or may not.

"I will not kneel for you."

(Of course, punishment is part of the game, and they both know it.)
